Gender Communication Expert to Speak at Jan. 9 BPW Meeting

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO—Dec. xx, 2007—Dr. Audrey Nelson, internationally recognized gender communications expert and trainer, will speak at the Jan. 9 meeting of the DTC Business and Professional Women’s Network (BPW).  The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held the Cool River Café at 8000 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village.

Dr. Nelson’s presentation, “He Speaks, She Speaks”, will focus on skills and attitudes to help bridge the gender differences in communication.  “The male-female difference represents the biggest between-culture gap that exists,” Dr. Nelson explains.  If you can learn the skills and attitudes to bridge this gap, you will have mastered what it takes to communicate and negotiate with almost anyone, about anything.”

Nelson holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph. D in Communications.  She conducted post-doctoral work at Warnborough College in Oxford, England.  Her professional background includes 10 years teaching in the Department of Communication at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  For 30 years, Nelson has trained and consulted for a wide variety of government and Fortune 50 companies in 48 states, Australia, Great Britain and Canada.

DTC/BPW to Hold Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 12—“Don’t Let the Grinch Steal Your Gratitude”

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO—Nov. XX, 2007—The DTC Business and Professional Women’s Network (BPW) will hold its holiday luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 12.  The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held at the group’s new location, the Cool River Café at 8000 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village.

DTC BPW Member Pam Dumonceau will guide the group through several fun activities focusing on sharing an “Attitude of Gratitude”.  “Our goal is to help members enjoy the holiday frenzy,” Dumonceau explains.  “We also will be collecting personal items and ‘gently used’ clothing for participants of CWEE--the Center for Work, Education and Employment.”

CWEE (www.cwee.org) was founded in 1982 and modeled after NWEE (National Women's Employment and Education). NWEE was formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1973 after several hundred welfare recipients marched to the Texas Welfare Department to return their welfare checks and demand jobs. Today CWEE continues to prepare single parents and families for long-term, meaningful employment, enabling them to achieve self-sufficiency and end their dependency on welfare.

CWEE's mission is to provide realistic programs to help low-income single parents and families develop and expand the skills and confidence necessary to obtain continuous, meaningful employment and career advancement.

Feng Shui Practitioner to Address BPW on Nov. 14

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO—Oct. XX, 2007—Clearing clutter can build your business.  Kathie Seedroff of Simplified Interiors, a certified Feng Shui practitioner and de-clutter consultant, will speak at the Nov. 14 luncheon meeting of the DTC Business and Professional Women’s Network (BPW).  She will show attendees how to create money, time and energy by clearing clutter the Feng Shui way. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held at the group’s new location, the Cool River Café at 8000 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village.

Women’s Foundation CEO to Address BPW on Oct. 10

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO—Sept. XX, 2007—Gretchen Gagel McComb, president and CEO of The Women’s Foundation of Colorado, will speak at the Oct. 10 luncheon meeting of the DTC Business and Professional Women’s Network (BPW).  Her topic is “Two Steps Forward and Three Steps Back—The Cliff Effect: Colorado’s Curious Penalty for Increased Earnings.”  The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held at the group’s new location, the Cool River Café at 8000 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village.

McComb has been president and CEO of The Women’s Foundation since January 2005.  Prior to joining The Women’s Foundation, she worked for Ralston Purina and Coca Cola in operations management and as a director/business unit manager for FMI Corp, a management and investment banking firm.  McComb received her Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and then made a career change into the nonprofit sector. She also is a graduate of the University of Denver’s MBA program and received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University.
